Cookies & Browser Storage
Effective and last updated:
A practical explanation of what the calculator keeps during a visit, what your browser may remember, and how shared links and downloads differ from cookies.
1. What this notice explains
This notice covers cookies and similar browser technologies used in connection with Compound Interest Calculator at compound-interest-calculator.co. It supplements the Privacy Policy. Not everything a browser remembers is a cookie, and clearing cookies is not the same as deleting a downloaded file or a shared link.
The descriptions below distinguish the calculator application from browser features, external services, and the infrastructure delivering the website. A claim about the application should not be read as a guarantee about every extension, email app, or network service on your device.
2. What the current application uses
- Page memory: holds the inputs for each calculation mode, current results, and interface selections during the visit. This enables live calculations and switching modes.
- URL fragments: a shared scenario can be encoded after # in the link so the browser can restore it. This is part of the URL, not a cookie or private database record.
- Temporary export objects: the browser prepares images and CSV data for preview and download. Temporary preview references are released when no longer needed; saved files remain under your control.
- Clipboard writes: a copy action places the requested text on the clipboard. The application does not read existing clipboard contents.
- Ordinary caching: your browser may cache public HTML, scripts, styles, and images so they can load efficiently on later requests.
The application does not use localStorage, sessionStorage, or a site database to preserve your financial scenarios between visits. Reloading usually resets unshared entries, although a saved scenario URL or the browser's own restoration features can bring them back.
3. Cookies and tracking not installed in the application
The current application does not set analytics or advertising cookies. It has no advertising pixels, session-replay scripts, account-login cookies, personalized advertising system, embedded third-party calculator, or remotely hosted font request. It does not need a cookie to calculate compound interest.
There is no optional application tracking to turn on through a cookie banner, so the site does not display a consent button pretending to control a nonexistent tracker. This is a description of the present application, not a permanent promise that no service configuration will ever change.
4. Hosting, security, and external services
A hosting or security service can process connection information independently of calculator storage. Depending on the deployed service and settings, infrastructure may use security challenges, routing mechanisms, or associated browser storage. No particular infrastructure cookie, provider, or lifetime is asserted without verification. Operational request logs are covered separately in the Privacy Policy.
Following an educational link, opening an email service, saving a file to a cloud folder, or using a network printer brings other services into the process. They may use cookies or storage under their own notices. The site does not control those settings simply because you reached the service from one of its links or buttons.
5. History, bookmarks, clipboard, and files
A complete shared URL can remain in browsing history, bookmarks, synced history, messages, and clipboard history. Anyone with a copy may read the scenario. Encoding the numbers in a link does not encrypt them. The website cannot expire a link already copied or remove it from another person's device.
A downloaded CSV or image is a file, not a cookie. Clearing site data does not normally delete downloads, printouts, or an email attachment. Browser or operating-system synchronization may keep copies on other devices. Review those services separately if you want to remove a scenario.
6. How to manage your browser data
Use your browser's settings to review cookies, site data, cache, history, and permissions. Controls and terminology vary by browser. You can also avoid sharing real amounts, close a calculation when finished, remove unwanted links, and delete exported files from folders you control.
- Reset example replaces the current mode's inputs; it does not securely erase device history or revoke links.
- Clearing cached assets may make the next visit load more slowly, but does not cancel a message already sent.
- Disabling JavaScript prevents interactive calculations and exports; it is not a requirement for avoiding advertising trackers in this application.
- Private browsing can reduce some local records, but does not make downloaded files, email, or network requests invisible to other services.
The application does not implement behavioral advertising, sale-based tracking, or cross-site profiling. It does not add a tracking activity when a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal is absent. Any signal-related legal obligations for the deployed service continue to apply.
7. Changes to storage or tracking practices
Before adding optional analytics, advertising, or other nonessential storage, the website's notices and any legally required consent controls must be reviewed and updated. A notice about a possible future feature is not consent to deploy it.
The date at the top identifies this notice's current version. If you see unexplained storage associated with the site, contact us with the browser, page, and storage name if available. Do not send session tokens, complete private links, or other credentials.
